Mobile Phones Revolutionise Payment Systems in Africa (and Soon Beyond?)

I remember that about 6 years ago, mobile phones were announced to be the gadget for a new micropayment system. An example at that time was the first soda vending machine in Finland which delivered a Coke if you dialed a certain number. Not much has happened since then. Ok, in Berlin you can rent bicycles with mobile phones; at airports you can buy into wireless networks being billed on your mobile's account. But that's about it. more...
