Burma: The Clock Is Ticking

Burma's military junta has started to crack down the peaceful protests, and I fear that worse is to come. I am however confident that the clock is ticking for one of the few remaining brutal totalitary regimes. Belorussia, Burma, Ethiopia, and the like - time is for change.

I remember talking with my 21 years old daughter about the time when I grew up: Greece, Portugal, Spain, Brazil, Argentina, Soviet Union, Albania, South Africa - do you remember that these were as brutal as Burma is today? Countries might differ in their general model of society, but we should no forget that the world at a whole is becoming more liberal every year. And we - those enjoying those freedoms - should never forget what we are living on the bright site.

Ko Htike, who lives in Europe, published information on the current situationin Burma which he gets directly through his contacts.

Free Burma!
International Bloggers' Day for Burma on the 4th of October

International bloggers are preparing an action to support the peaceful revolution in Burma. We want to set a sign for freedom and show our sympathy for these people who are fighting their cruel regime without weapons. These Bloggers are planning to refrain from posting to their blogs on October 4 and just put up one Banner then, underlined with the words „Free Burma!“.
